As with the rifle range, only paper/cardboard targets are permitted. Pin shoots or Steel target shoots are held as club-sponsored activities. The maximum length of the outdoor pistol range is 50 yards. There are several static steel targets at the 50-yard line. These must be shot at from the firing line only. Do not walk down range to shoot. There is also a designated caliber and bullet design required. This range is equipped with lights for matches and league shooting in the evenings.
Outdoor Pistol Range Hours
All ranges are under 24-hour camera surveillance.
- Monday – Saturday – 7:00 AM until DUSK
- Sunday – 9:00 AM – until DUSK
- The only exception is league shoots which must end by 10:00 pm
If you use the outdoor ranges, please remember safety first and consideration of others. Do not go down range to shoot at the static steel; engage the steel from the shooting bench only.
The outdoor pistol range is also used as a small bore, .22 caliber rimfire-only range. There are 60 feet of covered firing line. The range is laid out in lanes with moveable target stands.
All calibers and types of handguns may be used on this range including, both black and smokeless powder. The one exception to this is Contender-type pistols using rifle cartridges are not permitted. Fully automatic weapons are totally banned on all of the Club’s ranges.
Guests are permitted to shoot on the outdoor pistol range only at a league shoot or at a Club sponsored shoot such as scheduled pistol matches. A release form must be signed by all guests shooting in Club sponsored activities.
A few Reminders
Please be aware of posted signs and instructions on using the range. They are posted for your safety. If you do not know what a squib is, please look it up or ask someone. A squib can happen with any caliber, including .22. Always keep your gun pointed down range and remember that ALL guns should be considered loaded at ALL times.
Please clean up your brass and put it in the brass baskets. Any live ammo including misfires should be put in the orange bucket. Also clean up your trash.
Please return the target stands to where they are stored and PULL your stables from the up rights.
Remember, always safety first, have fun and enjoy the range.
As a reminder to all members, the minimum age for unsupervised shooters is 18 years of age. This applies to rifles, shotguns, handguns and archery. Anyone under the age of 18 participating in any of these actions must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Please, if you use the outdoor pistol ranges be courteous. This means:
- Pull your staples from the wooden target stands
- Pick up your brass and put in the hanging buckets
- Pick-up your trash
- Put stands and uprights back where they belong
- Put things back where you found them
- Put misfires in the proper bucket.
Pistol League
Information
The league is open to club members at no cost.
Non-club members must sign a release and pay a fee ($75) for the entire season.
Safety checks are required before shooting in the outdoor league.
Safety checks are NOT performed on the night of our league events.
Indoor bulls-eye
From November to April, we move to indoor .22 bullseye shooting, which will be held on Wednesday nights from 7 pm – 9 pm. You must use standard velocity ammo and Bullseye is shot one- handed. Members and non-members are welcome to participate. Non-members must sign a release and pay a fee. Awards are issued as you progress by accuracy on the targets. See anyone on the Pistol Committee for details or stop by on a Wednesday evening to watch and get the necessary information.
Outdoor pistol league
The league will follow the following schedule:
7:00 pm Hammer down, we must stop shooting by 10:10 pm. Please arrive early to help set up the course of the fire.
- 1st Wednesday of the month – Center Fire Pistol
- 2nd Wednesday of the month – .22lr pistol AND .22lr rifle
- 3rd Wednesday of the month – Center Fire Pistol
- 4th Wednesday of the month – Tactical shotgun (#7 1/2, #8, or #9 shot required, no slugs)
If we are lucky enough to have a 5th Wednesday in a month, we will do something special (bowling pins, 3 Guns, head-to-head, or other).
Safety Checks
The upper pistol range will be closed during these safety checks.
Safety checks are held on a cold range, so please leave your loaded carry guns in your car or at home.
All firearms must be cased until you are called to the firing line.
You must bring a centerfire pistol, pistol case, 2 magazines, one box of ammo, eye protection, and ear protection for the safety check. (For safety, no magnum calibers and no .45 ACP FMJ ammo are permitted)
All competitions are done from the low ready or gun-on-table starting positions, so no holsters are permitted.

- Sunday, February 18 @ 1:00 PM for the shooter’s meeting.
- Saturday, March 09 @ 1:00 PM safety check
- Wednesday, March 13 @ 6:00 PM safety check
- Sunday, March 17 @ 1:00 safety PM check
- Wednesday, March 27 @ 6:00 PM safety check
Indoor Small Bore Range
The indoor small bore range is located in the Clubhouse and is limited to .22 cal. Rimfire standard velocity loads only. There are six firing positions with a maximum distance of 50 feet. There is a pistol league and a small bore rifle instructional activity that use this range.
The range is normally open on Wednesday evenings during the year except during the month of October. The shooting hours are 7 PM. to 10 PM.
Please note, you are indoors, and specific indoor safety precautions are required. Guests are permitted to shoot on the indoor small-bore range only at a league shoot or at a Club sponsored shoot such as scheduled small-bore matches. A release form must be signed by all guests shooting in Club sponsored activities.
